I remember my mother taking us to see the circus several times in Macon. Beatrice’s favorite part of the circus is the ELEPHANTS!

I have only been to the circus once (and I was to young to remember). So I’m excited to go this year and share this experience with my children for the first time!

My first memory of the circus was when I was 8 years old in Germany, where my dad was stationed with the military. I was so amazed at all the tricks the animals could do. This will be my 3 children’s 1st circus show!

I grew up in NY and we went to see the big Ringling Brothers circus at Madison Square Garden every year. I remember my younger brother and I getting picked out of the audience to ride in a circus train all around the rings. That was awesome! I’m excited for the circus to be a tradition for my son too.

THE CIRCUS IS COMING!
I remember when the circus came to the South Pacific. They traveled by ship hopping island to island, shows inbetween stops. They even had to stay on one particular island because there was a typhoon! They island hopped until the circus finally came to my island home-Guam, USA.
It was very exciting for the people of Guam to get to see real elephants and lions. I got to meet most of the circus folks since they stayed at the hotel I worked at (I was about 16 yrs.). My favorite act was the Human Balance. A few men piling on top of each other with nothing to hold them up…balancing. They were in silver outfits and make-up.
They were a mix of cultures, talents, all under one tent getting together for one cause! BRINGING THE CIRCUS TO THE WORLD!
Since then, no circus has ever dared the distance and liabilities! I will never forget it though and was very happy to see the circus on Guam.

I don’t ever remember going to a circus, but I think my Mom told me she took me once when I was little…but I must have been to young to remember it, but she said I wouldn’t take my eyes off the show and would bring up my popcorn to my nose instead of my mouth
I would love to take my 2 children and experience it with them for the first time too!

My dad always took us to the circus. Back then Ringling Brothers Circus WAS the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!!

When I was in 7th grade, our school took us to see the Shriner’s Circus. Hot dogs and drinks were included in the ticket price. We were seated way up high in the nosebleeds, but we could see really well. The clowns came out as we were eating our hotdogs, and I remember laughing so hard that the piece of hot dog I was chewing snarfed up my nose. Ah, those were good times.
I have two kids now, aged 3 and 5. I can’t wait to take them to the circus . . . but I think I’ll skip the hot dogs.

I was eight years old, we lived in Hawaii…and I remember walking through the parking lot to go into the giant striped tent…and seeing the elephants off to the side….they were HUGE and so impressive, and gentle….I couldnt take my eyes off of them for the whole show! My toddler loves animals, and I just know he would have a great time at the circus!
January 5th, 2009 at 10:24 am
I was in preschool the first time I went to the circus and I was picked to ride on one of the elephants around the stage (I dont think they would EVER do that now!)My second memory was last year…I went with my daughters’ preschool. Being with 40+ 3 and 4 year olds has to be a memory of a lifetime!

I love the acrobats and can’t wait for my daughter to enjoy them as well!
January 5th, 2009 at 11:44 am
I remember the circus setting up and all the elephants just walking around. My cousin won an opportunity to ride a circus elephant in their parade one year. That was pretty memorable.
January 5th, 2009 at 11:47 am
My favorite circus memory is of the trapeze artists. I am just amazed at how they can do all their tricks. I would love to be able to share the amazement with my children.
January 5th, 2009 at 11:55 am
I don’t remember going to the circus so I’d love to experience it with my daughter.

When I was maybe 5 and my brother 3 our parents took us to the circus; and although the show itself was wonderful the highlight for my brother and I was seeing one of the elephants er, well, poop. We talked about it nonstop for days and it has remained a family joke. (I know–we’re gross.) Over Christmas my two girls, who’ve never been to the circus and are VERY excited at the possibility, told their uncle we might be going. Of course, he had to tell them about elephant poop. It’s already banned dinner discussion in our home now. Whether there’s elephant poo or not, the girls are extremely ready to have their own circus experiences!

I think my boys would love to see the animals and the acrobats! I know I went to the circus when I was a child, but I honestly can’t remember anything about it besides seeing the big outdoor tent. I guess I was too young to remember!
January 5th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
My favorite time going to the circus was 2 years ago when I brought my 4 year old son. He had so much fun! He was so amazed by everything! His face was full of wonder and excitement! He decided after that, that he wanted to be a clown when he grows up!

My favorite part of the circus when I was little was getting to watch the motorcycles go around in that big round ball. My parents always let my brother & I get cotton candy and those spinning flashlights!
January 5th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
My favorite time going to the circus was when I was 6 yrs old and I got to ride an Elephant.I’m not sure if they still do this any longer but an experience and a smell that I will never forget. This will be the first time for our children 3 and 2 yrs old going to the Circus and We would love for them to ride one if you still can.

My favorite memory of the circus was many years ago when my parents took me. My Daddy had to cancel a business meeting to make the circus but he did and we had a wonderful time. The fact that he cancelled his plans to take us to the circus reminds me how important it is to stop, and take time to take my own children.
January 5th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
My kids are excited about seeing the elephants and the clowns. I guess we’re excited about the same things, because my first thought was elephants and then I asked them what they wanted to see and all three of them yelled “Elephants & clowns!”
January 5th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
I loved the clown performances the best as a child, and the monkeys, of course!
January 5th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
I remember being completely amazed at the size of the gigantic elephants. I always loved enjoying the special treat of cotton candy….
January 5th, 2009 at 11:06 pm
Hmmm…I remember going to circus once while I was a little girl and I remember just being in complete awe. The elephants were amazing, I remember a motorcycle cage thingy, I love the acrobats and sat on the edge of my seat, but my favorite moment was when it was dark and my Mom had gotten me one of the glowy spinner things and the whole place just lit up with those. I don’t know why that stands out, but it does. I remember just sitting there and smiling. Silly, huh?
January 5th, 2009 at 11:58 pm
My favorite circus memory was getting to hold a tiger cub. My kids love to watch juggling and the acrobats. They also love circus snacks like popcorn and cotton candy.
January 6th, 2009 at 12:43 am
When I was a kid, my dad would usher for the circus that came an hour from our home so my friends and I could go to the circus. He is gone now but I want to share the circus with my son.
January 6th, 2009 at 8:18 am
As a child my favorite circus act was the acrobats. I always thought it would be thrilling to fly through the air like they did! My children all love animals so I think they are most looking forward to seeing the elephants and tigers perform. And of course the clowns!
January 6th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
I’ve never been to the circus!! My favorite part of the circus was the elephants - how in the world can they train them to climb up onto each other - they are so big!
January 6th, 2009 at 5:43 pm

I know when I was little I would get coupons for discount admission. We did go as a family but I vaguely remember the experience. The last time we went to the circus, my husband took my daughter and she loved it. The next time, we went as a family and she loved it again and was very excited to watch all the animals. But my son fell asleep. However, he did get to watch some of it. My best part was seeing my daughter’s expression and excitement while watching the show.
