STEAM Fest 2018 Georgia State Railroad Museum 2018 Coastal Heritage Society

Coastal Heritage Society invites the public to attend the 2nd annual STEAM Fest, an interactive family-friendly event designed to showcase STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) education activities as well as to kick off the summer season of steam site tours by rail @ Georgia State Railroad Museum in Savannah.

The event will be Sat. May 5, 10AM-4PM @ Georgia State Railroad Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.

Some of CHS community partners will include: Savannah Technical College showcasing their internationally recognized Historic Preservation program; STEAM Savannah will lead an activity and discuss their summer camp focused on young creators; Sylvan Learning Center will be teaching 45-minute class demos; Snapology will provide STEAM-based LEGO® activities for event attendees. Becki Harkness, Coastal Heritage Society’s Historic Resource Specialist, will also be leading an indigo dyeing program focused on the science and history behind the dyeing process.

Georgia State Railroad Museum will offer enhanced programming throughout the day, including executive railcar tours, hand car activities, operating steam locomotive train rides, plus other steam power and Bernoulli’s Principle demonstrations.

CHS will also raise funds for their Track Match Challenge campaign, an initiative focused on expanding sections of track to improve ADA accessibility for train rides at the museum and provide more flexibility to maneuver our trains and rolling stock.
