“More Mickey. Again. Again. More pirates.”
That was my almost-2-year-old son’s plea the whole ride home after Thursday night’sDisney On Ice presents Mickey & Minnie’s Magical Journey.
The production has it all: Mickey & Minnie, Donald and Daisy. Goofy. The Lion King. Lilo & Stitch. A giant Ursula the sea witch. All on skates.
A favorite number was “Under the Sea” with all The Little Mermaid characters including dancing star fish, jellies and sea horses as bubbles dropped from ceiling. Even the concession guys selling snowcones in Stitch cups were grooving in the aisles during that one.
After intermission (and a Zamboni whirl that my son also loved) comes Peter Pan, his fairy friend Tinker Bell and the big swashbuckling pirate clash in Never Land, complete with pirate ship and a gigantic crocodile.
The only complaint I heard was from a little girl who wanted to know where the princesses were. But chances are Ariel doing a couples’ skate with her Prince Charming will compensate just fine.
It’s worth checking out one of the several Disney on Ice shows this weekend. Now if I can just figure out to explain to my son why we can’t go see Mickey and the Peter Pan pirates every day.
