Newborn calf on exhibit @ Oatland Island

“It’s a boy!”

oatland-calf.gifOatland Island Wildlife Center is celebrating the birth of a baby calf, now on exhibit in the center’s barnyard area called the Georgia Farm.

The young male calf was born 9:30 am July 10 to the center’s cow, Sapphire. The calf is named “Gerren” after longtime, dedicated caretakers Chuck, Carol, Spenser and Victor Gerren.

Don’t forget. Oatland Island hosts Toddler Tuesdays, story and craft time for children ages 6 months to 4 years. Each Tuesday at 10:30 am, a new 45-minute program includes stories, games, crafts and animal visitors. According to the Web site schedule, wolves are the focus of this Tuesday’s program. But that is subject to change. The event is free with regular Oatland admission.
