We don’t want anyone to miss the 5th Annual Savannah Children’s Book Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Nov. 15 in Forsyth Park (rain location is the Savannah Civic Center).
So to drum up some excitement in this week leading up to the festival, we plan to spotlight a different author who will be at the festival, which includes children’s book authors and illustrators from around the country. The festival also features dozens of local authors, arts & crafts, food, an international tent, costumed characters, a “teen scene” and more.
Today’s children’s book author: Michelle Knudsen whose latest picture book, “Library Lion,” is a New York Times bestseller and a Publishers Weekly bestseller. The book was also Amazon’s number one pick on their list of Best Picture Books of 2006, Nick Jr. Family Magazine’s Best Books of 2006, and Child Magazine’s Best Children’s Books of 2006.
Knudsen, author of 28 children’s books, is also the editor of the hugely popular “Junie B. Jones” series by Barbara Park.
As we told in you in previous posts, other kid-friendly celebrities and authors coming to the festival include:
Author/illustrator Mo Willems, who began as a writer on Sesame Street. He’s known for his Caldecott Honor winning picture books “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!“and “Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale”. He also wrote and illustrated “Leonardo the Terrible Monster” and too many more to name here.
Miss Rosa, new host of the PBS Kids Preschool Block.
