Kids activities @ Savannah Book Festival

savannah-book-festival.jpgThe Savannah Book Festival this weekend isn’t just for adults.

Kids activities will take place Sat. Feb. 2 at City Market in downtown Savannah, on the main stage near Barnard Street. Events will feature Critters-To-Go petting zoo; fire truck and police car; Valentine’s arts and crafts; cupcake decorating.
Events start at 10:30 am with a children’s book reading about animals, followed by an 11:30 performance by singer/songwriter Kate Morrissey. Other readings at the same spot include:
12:30 pm: children’s book reading about safety
1:30 pm: children’s book reading about black history
2:30 pm: children’s book reading about Valentine’s Day
3:30 pm: local children’s book author Charlotte Sauers reading from her book “The Bee in Bonnie Bondelle’s Bow.”

If you’re lucky, maybe you can wear the kids out so they’ll fall asleep in the stroller and you can duck into some of the book festival events. Here’s the festival schedule of speakers. The festival is free and open to the public.
