Savannah’s St. Patrick’s activities are about to get under way starting at noon Fri. March 7 with the greening of the Forsyth Park fountain.
But what activities are there for kids, other than the March 14 parade, of course? While most festivities are certainly of the green-beer adult variety, the FREE! Tara Feis celebration in Emmet Park 11 am-5 pm Sat. March 8 is a FREE! non-alcoholic event geared towards families and children. (Did we mention it’s FREE?)
Tara Feis has an entire stage devoted to kid-focused performers including North Carolina-based Clover; the puppets of Conrad Hartz; traditional Irish dancing performances; and professional female magician Debbie O’Carroll’s “Irish Magic Show,” an interactive magical theatrical production that explores Irish folklore and fun. O’Carroll is also author of the children’s book, “Bridget Boylan, Girl Magician.”
Don’t worry. There’s also a main stage for Mom or Dad which includes shows by the acclaimed Celtic music group Altan
Emmet Park is in downtown Savannah at the east end of Bay Street. For a schedule of performers on the main and children’s stages, call 912.651.6417 or click here. For a guide to all St. Patrick’s Day activities in Savannah, including the parade route and parking and shuttle info, click here.
