Putting yourself at the mercy of the likes of Louis Gossett Jr. from “An Officer and a Gentleman” might be your answer. That’s right: Fitness boot camp, the back-to-basics brand of exercise that brings out your inner GI Jane.
Our area has at least three fitness boot camps.
- An outdoor Tybee Island Sunrise Boot Camp that I wrote about in my column today in the Savannah Morning News Accent section. It’s 6-7 am weekdays, rain or shine. ON THE BEACH. You meet at the North Beach Parking lot and walk down the first crossover to the beach. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 912.604-0611. Cost: $75 a month, $35 for the week or $10 a class. The first class is free. Starting in April, yoga instructor Ann Carroll plans to hold yoga on the beach classes following the boot camp.
- Boot Camp Savannah. Class is $150 for 4 weeks (20 classes). 6-7 am weekdays @ The Temple of Martial Arts on Montgomery Crossroads. 912.631.4604 or 912.844.8817
- Weight Loss Boot Camp in Richmond Hill led by certified personal trainer Derek Frazier, who also runs KidFitClub @ 4:30 pm Monday and Friday and TeenFitClub @ 4:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday @ JF Gregory Park. Call 912.271.9680 or 888.277.1362
