  • Sat. Dec. 1 Christmas on the Homefront @ the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum. The kick off of several special kids events in December. Includes movie classics, free hands-on activities for kids and a 10 am book reading by Dr. Annette Laing, author of the new book “Don’t Know Where, Don’t Know When,” which follows several modern-day kids as they time travel to England during WWII.   • Sat. Dec. 1 Holiday Silent Auction starts at noon @ The Shops at Ellis Square, on Barnard Street between Broughton and Congress streets, and the Lighted Holiday Parade, starts at 5:30 pm downtown Savannah. Auction benefits the Backus Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health and features live music throughout the day including the Asbury Hand Choir, the Skylite Jazz Band, Memorial Health Feel Better Singers, as well as a 6 pm performance by the Equinox Jazz Orchestra. The 3rd Annual Lighted Holiday Parade travels east on River Street to Bay Street, west on Bay Street to Abercorn, North on Abercorn to Broughton ending at Ellis Square. Following the lighted parade, Santa will visit the Ellis Square stage to collect Christmas letters from children.
  • Sat Dec. 1 First Saturdays for Kids @ Telfair’s Jepson Center for the Arts, 207 W. York St. 10 am-1 pm FREE admission for local families. The monthly program for young people includes art activities in the ArtZeum. Enjoy a family film or performance at 11 am, storytelling at noon and a drop-in studio workshop from 10:30 am-1 pm. 912.790.8800
  • Fri, Sat and Sun Richmond Hill’s 12th Annual Hometown Christmas Celebration Festivities include a chili cook-off at J.F. Gregory Park from 7-9 pm Friday; a parade at 10 am Saturday and Christmas Extravaganza with real snow noon to 4 pm Saturday at the Station Xchange; and a tour of homes Sunday.
