Maisy the Mouse was a no-show today at the Barnes & Noble in Oglethorpe Mall. Kids still had story time, received goodie bags and had a chance to color and play. But the children’s book character apparently had a hurt leg and couldn’t make her scheduled appearance. (No word whether cats were involved) Which happens sometimes, we realize, and we wish the beloved mouse a speedy recovery. This summer, this Southern Mama and baby went to see Peter Rabbit at the Barnes & Noble on Hilton Head Island where he was supposed to be hopping around, telling Mr. McGregor tales and entertaining fans. Some kids were so excited they even wore little Peter Rabbit ensembles, only to learn that Peter Rabbit apparently had too much overtime for that week and couldn’t make his appearance. Hmmm.
We want to continue to publicize these Saturday morning story book character visits because we know kids love them. But please call the store ahead to confirm so you won’t have to explain what “no-show” means later.
